Doctrine Object Based Publishing (OBP) XML Schema Abstract

This abstract is for: XML schema topicut "-//USA-DOD//DTD Doctrine Object Based Publishing REV 1.00 20060613//EN". The elements and taxonomy for the Object Based Publishing (OBP) Program were selected to allow better and quicker access to information, improve relationships with doctrine developers and warfighters by accelerating the development processes, and to reduce duplication of work. The OBP taxonomy represents terms and relationships between doctrinal ideas and serves as a glossary helping to define how doctrine developers and warfighters think about developing and using Army Doctrine.  The meta-data elements and taxonomy began with an analysis of what doctrinal information existed and what was needed by both the developer and the warfighter. This structure was initially built by the Doctrine Taxonomy Initiative program and honed by analysis by the OBP team to fill the requirements of the end user.

The taxonomy will lead to a consistent contextual relationship between that information and the way it's captured and used. This will enable developers to break content up into more granular and reusable components and facilitate the development of new information reuse of existing information.
