This table lists the elements contained in the SGML DTD based on MIL-STD-40051A and the XML DTD drawn from MIL-STD-40051B. Elements preceded with a minus (-) sign (in red) are elements that have been removed from the DTD. Those preceded by a plus (+) sign (in blue) are new elements added in the XML DTD.
Those elements shown in bold-italic are elements whose content models have changed in some manner. Some content model changes are very minor and will have little or no impact on migration from SGML to XML. Other changes are fairly extensive and will require a review to determine the impact.This table does not provide specific information on content model information or how to use the elements. The ASRL contains aTag Description Table that provides this information.
Significant content model changes are described in those elements where necessary. There are two significant changes between the DTDs. These two changes account for the majority of the element changes.
Throughout the table, there is a reference to a “wrapper”
tag. The wrapper tag is an element that has been added around other elements in a
complex content model. For example, the content model of pmi.pecul.tab in the SGML
DTD is:

XML DTD, this model is now:
